Online Art, Photo And Essay Contest - Recognizing the Importance of Louisiana's Coastal Wetlands
Sponsored by The America's WETLAND Foundation

Restoring Ruins
By: Rene | Group 4 | Gretna

I’m somewhere,
the signs all say that I’m home.
This is not where
I once was.
Everything has been changed
and eroded away.
Concrete and sand prevail.
Seeing our own prints in the sand,
attest to our transgression
Against Gaia.
We’ve destroyed all of the wetlands
making ourselves vulnerable,
to our own destruction.

A memory is all I have left.
The images in my head,
resist this new place.
We must restore it
to its prime once again.
