Online Art, Photo And Essay Contest - Recognizing the Importance of Louisiana's Coastal Wetlands
Sponsored by The America's WETLAND Foundation

Wetland
By: Colin | Group 3 | Lake Charles

I'm an anathema, I'm a treasure
I'm a guardian of fading life
From the way I drown
In wave upon wave
Of burning rain and misplaced passion,
But, in the waking dawn of this world that we live in,
Everyday I think to myself,
I am still here
So I will still uphold my roles
As watcher and protector,
Facing the oncoming myriad
Of pain, fear, fury, and sorrow
My back against a blind audience,
So I will do it for them,
The very ones blinded
By their conflicts and malcontent
Wetland. I'm a shield. I'm a friend.
I'm a treasure, I'm an anathema
I'm a fading guardian of life
